Regional Manager, Preventative Maintenance

Position Summary:
The Regional PM Manager is responsible for influencing the organization to optimize asset life cycle costs through defining consistent maintenance processes, developing tools and technologies to support these processes, and delivering training to ensure competencies throughout the organization.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience leading TPM – PM Pillar implementation programs and guiding plant maintenance organizations along a path of continuous improvement toward maintenance excellence.  The role will implement Maintenance Foundations and the engineering related elements of Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE).  Role will have primary responsibility for coaching, training and assisting factories in developing and executing the PM Pillar and Nestle Maintenance Strategy at optimal cost.  This position reports to the National Director, Maintenance.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Drive business improvement by increasing OEE/Asset Intensity, reducing unplanned stoppages, increasing maintenance labor productivity, increasing % of planned work, and achieving optimal preventative maintenance mix and maintenance spend.  Metrics driven to world-class benchmarks.
  • Assumes the role of Regional PM Pillar Champion, conducting factory assessments to identify gaps, working with factories to build improvement plans, and completion of action plans to accelerate capability and results at all factories.
  • Facilitate PM pillar discussions and track execution of action items and ensure gaps in the overall PM pillar implementation are closed at all levels.
  • Facilitate capability building by becoming an instructor for multiple topics.   Integrate PM activities with other pillars.  During implementation, ensure learning and best practice sharing amongst sites.
  • Implement clearly defined maintenance processes that support the execution of maintenance; the processes will include RACI to ensure clear roles & responsibilities.
  • Build a team of highly trained maintenance professionals across the manufacturing sites.  Ensure needed skills are available to achieve the maintenance objectives by assessing the needs and providing necessary training to close gaps.  Provide coaching for maintenance leaders to drive continuous improvement in their organizations.
  • Ensures value-added preventative maintenance plans are in-place for all assets.  Guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.  Drive RCM analysis and implement predictive maintenance capability.
  • Ensures efficient and effective Planning and Scheduling with adherence to practices and standards.
  • Initiates and Manages Root Cause Failure Analysis, identifying and eliminating failures, increasing machine efficiency, reducing life-cycle costs, and publishing results.
  • Provide direction for the materials management function to optimize spare parts inventory levels and ensure that the customer service level for maintenance is achieved.
  • Works with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified capital installations.  Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.
  • Enhance the usage of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) and Material Management (MM) modules to ensure data integrity, KPI reporting, cost reporting, PM program, planning & scheduling, equipment master data, and parts master data.
  • Assess and recommend changes to achieve an optimum maintenance organizational structure.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years in positions with increasing levels of responsibility in a manufacturing environment, ideally consumer goods industry
  • Knowledge of TPM / Maintenance Excellence programs including Asset Management, Breakdown Analysis, FMEA, and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
  • Experience leading a Maintenance Improvement Team in a factory environment.
  • Proven track record implementing maintenance programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement long term solutions
  • Skilled in change management and demonstrated ability to drive transformational change
  • Proven track record of personnel coaching and development
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and make timely decisions
  • Understanding of financial systems and controls - including ability to analyze budget and cost data, determine trends and apply corrective actions to achieve desired financial goals
  • Solid project planning and management skills using standard project management tools
  • Strong PC skills including MS Excel, Word, Project, business management software (SAP), and production management software (EIT).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills throughout the organization
  • Ability to travel 50% within the US and Canada with some international travel will also be required.
Additional Consideration Given to those with:
  • Advanced degree, particularly with focus on operations leadership & reliability engineering
  • Demonstrated success in leading a maintenance organization
  • Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance Module
  • Experience in high speed bottling operations
  • Six Sigma, Lean, TPM and/or similar certification(s) preferred
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
