Maintenance Supervisor - 3rd Shift

General Summary:

The Maintenance Shift Leader will have shift accountability for all maintenance shift results, daily management systems, and organizational health. This individual will be responsible for executing, and managing and improving the results on their shift as needed to contribute to the overall plant CBN and Master plan. In this role they will manage the people, equipment, Preventative Maintenance (PM) processes, and Predictive Maintenance processes. This person will work with the Maintenance Unit Leaders to grow the capability of the people in all areas. They will execute the work that the Maintenance Unit Leaders, Planners, and Technical Leaders schedule. This position will report to the Wet Side Maintenance Leader.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure clear direction and priorities are set for the shift and that these are aligned with the business units
  • Execute the shift plan with input from the planners and MUL’s. Modify based on emerging issues.
  • Drive standards within the shift.
  • Partner with the Operational Team Leaders to ensure that shift results are consistently delivered.
  • Track gap results vs. work plan for the shift and drive KPI’s including safety and quality
  • Develop AA Mechanics and Maintenance Technicians on the shift. Coordinate this with the MUL’s.
  • Provide training, coaching and facilitation

Job Complexity:

  • Manage the Safety systems (Safety L1’s, near- misses, and behavior safety observations) on the shift.
  • Execute and support the key daily management systems in the business unit such as DDS, CIL, RCFA, Mid-Shift update and Operational Standards documentation
  • Communicate business shift results and needs to MUL’s and senior management
  • Involved in all activities including daily management, budgeting, strategic planning, TDC initiatives, enabler planning and execution, and the capital forecasting process on the shift to support Maintenance initiatives.
  • Interface with multiple functions within the plant, as well as WHQ Engineering, Process Safety, Product Development, Reliability and annual network teams.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum education required: BA/BS degree is preferred. Will also consider someone with a HS Diploma/GED and a CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional).

Education desired: Technical Engineering degree: BSME, BSIT, or BSEE.

Years of relevant experience: 2+ years of related Maintenance leadership experience with a BA/BS degree or 5+ years of related Maintenance experience, with the CMRP, in a Manufacturing environment with some supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership ability required, preferably in a team based organization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities preferred:

  • Maintenance experience with a strong understanding of various plant functions
  • Strong drive and initiative to make improvements in a variety of areas with minimum supervision.
  • Strong commitment to personal development and growth
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Strong controls skills (Level 3)
  • Above average knowledge of computer database system tools, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Good planning, prioritizing and organization and multiple priority management skills.

  • Food manufacturing environment and offices
  • Must be able to work all shifts and weekends as needed.
