GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Utilities Mechanics perform skilled work in the operation, predictive and preventative maintenance, and repair of the facility’s real property, power industrial trucks, and plant utility systems. Utilities Mechanics through training achieve basic understanding and knowledge to operate and maintain the ammonia refrigeration system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Requirements for this position are outlined below. Tasks may be assigned as required and may not be limited to the following. The frequency of the following activities may vary according to the requirements of the incumbent’s job assignment.
Position is expected to mentor new employees as requested.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel 67-100% of the time. The associate is required to walk, talk and hear 67-100% of the time. The associate must be able to taste or smell 0-33% of the time. The associate must lift and/or move up to 45 lbs. 67-100% of the time, 50 lbs. 33-67% of the time and 100 lbs. 0-33% of the time. They must be able to push/pull 300 lbs. 33-67% of the time. The associate is required to ascend and descend stairs 67-100% of the time. The associate must be able to bend, squat and kneel 33-67% of the time.
Prior to being hired for the position the applicant is required to pass a medical examination and a respiratory fit test. This position also requires that beard and mustache lengths meet OSHA regulations and do not interfere with the seal of the respirator as this position requires the applicant to wear a respirator as part of their regular job functions. At any point during employment that the associate is unable to pass the medical examination or respiratory fit test the associate will become unqualified for the position.
