The Bogalusa Mill is currently seeking a Motor Reliability Specialist. This individual includes supporting the mill in managing motor inventory, specifying and supervising motor maintenance/troubleshooting, and is the mill representative for motor repairs. This position reports to the Reliability Manager.

The Motor Reliability Specialist will fulfill the role as Mill Motor Champion. The Motor Champion is the mill’s steward for Electric Motor Reliability. He/She involves and is involved in all motor reliability efforts. He/she is the eyes and ears of maintenance and reliability management of motors. His/her tool to accomplish this is the “Mill Motor Reliability Gap Plan”. He/she is the keeper and communicator of the plan. This plan in general is self assessment of the mill versus the published policies and recognized best practices for motor reliability. He/she must possess the technical and managerial skills to accomplish this goal.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintains the Motor Reliability Gap Plan and/or Deliberate Improvement Plan(s)
  • Perform routine repair shop audits.
  • Accountable that Incoming Motor Inspections and testing is conducted per policy
  • Motor Repair Report review and retention
  • Proper Motor Storage conditions are maintained on the mill site or vendor supplied storage
  • Participates and communicates the results of Repaired Motor Quality Teardowns
  • Large and Critical Motor Assembly Witness and Factory Acceptance
  • Spare Motor Contingency Planning
  • Maintain motor repair and testing information in applicable databases
  • Audits Motor Protection Programs mill-wide
  • Participation in Monthly Motor Task Team Conference Calls
  • Mill Motor Testing Program Leadership
  • Represents the mill and interfaces with project engineers in all motor related capital projects
  • Insures that motor related information is transferred to the mill in all new motor installations
  • Develop and submit management of change documents
  • Facilitates and is team member for RCFAs and champions use of RCFA process
  • Develop and lead reliability improvement projects
  • Key driver for continuous improving maintenance practices. Review and develop maintenance procedures
  • Support Electrical Power Distribution and Drives maintenance
  • Perform routine weekend duty coverage for mill electrical maintenance

Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in motor repairs/testing; Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, role-model, and promotes safe work behaviors; understands IP safety policy and procedures
  • Ability to engage the workforce and supports change to meet business needs; demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; self-motivated
