Maintenance Coordinator

Location: Warrick, IN

 Alcoa Global Primary Metals has over 20 locations worldwide and is North America's largest integrated producer of primary aluminum, with 11 smelters located in the United States and Canada. We provide a secure base of aluminum starting stock like ingots and billets for each of Alcoa's downstream aluminum businesses, such as Mill Products and Extrusions. We also supply products to a broad external customer base in all major markets. In addition to unalloyed aluminum ingot, we produce value-added forms of primary aluminum that include billet, rolling ingot, cast rod and various casting alloys.

Our plant in Newburg, IN is currently looking for a Maintenance Coordinator who will report directly to the Operations and Maintenance Manager. The incumbent will have supervisory responsibilities for all Maintenance Group Leaders, Planning and Scheduling Coordinator, and all Reliability and Maintenance Engineers. Key responsibilities will be to provide coordination of maintenance activities and services between the Maintenance, Operations and Fuels departments at AGC thereby maximizing the utilization of electrical and mechanical maintenance resources and activities to effectively maximize available generation and increase overall plant reliability. The maintenance coordinator will be the primary Single Point of Accountability(SPA) for root cause problem solving activities related to equipment failures, continuous improvement, critical reliability projects, outage planning and will also be the Help Chain for problem resolution.

The incumbent will also lead activities to improve maintenance efficiency and eliminate waste. Utilizing Alcoa Business System (Alcoa's Lean process) principles and Reliability Excellence Maintenance best practices, the incumbent will clearly define issues, draw input from all plant functional areas, deploy and test solutions to problems and communicate best practices to the entire plant.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identifying, prioritizing and scheduling all maintenance activities and projects, and monitoring all improvement activities to ensure proper implementation and communication of same.
  • Coordinating daily and outage activities with plant Group Leaders and Coordinators to optimize mechanical and electrical maintenance resource availability and prioritization.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the Reliability Excellence work planning and scheduling processes.
  • Lead and or participate in plant RCFA and SFMEA activities ensuring timely repair and that corrective measures are implemented and communicated to the plant.
  • Develop management systems and tools which support Reliability Excellence initiatives. Ensure continued development/documentation of standardized work practices.
  • Provide expertise/leadership/assistance to ensure all required training of plant personnel with regard to all environmental and safety standards.
  • Ability to plan and manage O&M budget on an annual/monthly/weekly basis.
  • Actively participates on Safety, Training, Recognition and other committees, as designated.
  • Develop Departmental succession plans for all positions including naming a primary to backfill in your absence.
  • Supports and drives continuous improvement projects including liaison with Capital Projects Team on Pre Production Reliability Assessment of maintenance development strategy.
  • This position will be the primary Help Chain/SPA related to electrical and mechanical and PdM related activities that effect the operation and reliability of the plant, as well as, continuous improvement initiatives of all maintenance processes.
  • Provide expertise/leadership/assistance to ensure all required training of department personnel as related to Technical and Safety standards.
  • Training; technical expertise and knowledge of the facility will allow this assignment to have a tremendous impact on the organization and execution of the Reliability Excellence process at the Warrick Power Plant.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years heavy industrial reliability maintenance experience
  • 3 years experience in a progressive management capacity including, people and processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  B.S in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  •  10 years experience with industrial maintenance
  •  Maintenance experience in the Power Industry
